CANCELLATION OF DEMU TRAIN SERVICES
The Diesel Electric Multiple Unit(DEMU) services, between Ernakulam Jn and Cochin Harbour Terminus (Train Nos.06303/06306 & 06035/06036) stand cancelled from 08.10.2018 due to poor patronage. Due to ongoing track maintenance works in the division, it is not feasible to extend the DEMU services beyond Ernakulam Jn.
Electrification of the Cochin Harbour Terminus –Ernakulam Jn section will be pursued in consultation with the Ministry of Defense.

They had told that patronage will be observed for a month, isnt it ??
Like old days , thay should arrange to terminate long distance non dailies at chts
Rather, extend all diesel engine hauled passenger/express trains to CHTS.
It'll atleast de-congest ERS & make train operations from there much smoother.

Being a local I can undoubtedly tell that a train service between CHTS and ERS only is never going to be successful..If trains are run to say TCR,SRR,PGT,KTYM etc then it will fetch good patronage..Because there are many people travelling from western Kochi to TCR and KTYM by ERS-Kottayam passenger, Dhanbad Express and Nilambur passenger..I am from Mattancherry and I also used to travel by ERS-KTYM-ERS passenger daily for nearly 2.5 years..

Would it be a good idea if it is extended till AFK (Angamaly) and run as an all day service without any idle time? Would provide good connection from Cochin/Ernakulam Cities to/fro Cochin Intl Airport.
Yes..Maybe this will be done in near future..For now this is just a trial run in CHTS-ERS line

14 year long wait comes to an end..First service had strated after 14 years of long gap from Cochin Harbour Terminus to Ernakulam Junction on an experimental basis for one month.

nice pics n video and SR can extend the platforms and can built new platforms in near future so that it can be used for Terminal to ease already congested ERS
good to see after a big gap of 14 yrs SR revived CHT and this line also and hopefully more trains can be introduced till CHT soon and more modern facilities can be introduced in CHT and by watching video it feels like New era train is curving thru in an old era and the route remains as same like 14 yrs ago and hope SR will developer CHT again in coming days

One month over since the rake arrived at ERS and still no signs of commencing service..
Track renovation has already been completed I guess..New signal posts have also been erected long back..Infact Vathuruthy Level cross was closed for 3 days during last October-November for completing track renovation and signalling..I remember we had to cover entire Willington Island to reach Ernakulam from West Kochi.
I guess they might be waiting for some availability of a public representative for inaguration etc. Most of the focus now is on rehabilitation after floods hence attention is diverted from these things which may be of lesser priority
