What could be the reason Koraput having 5 pfs? Hardly a dozen trains pass through this station.

That's so far a bit of a mystery really, and something for ECoR and Waltair Division to justify. In fact, even until last month when I last visited, station building redevelopment works were ongoing in full swing despite the sheer lack of trains. The two new PFs had come up with doubling works on both KRDL-KTV and KRPU-RGDA lines picking up pace and this led to optimism of new trains being on the cards (add to it the fact that the Railway Minister is also an MP from Odisha) but almost nothing has happened in that direction. All that said, there is a fair amount of freight movement in the area, mostly from Kirandul and Jagdalpur, and also because of the bauxite mines in nearby Damanjodi.
