The Railways had previously issued a notice about the change in train numbers, but it has now been retracted. The trains will continue to operate with their old numbers until further notice. The change in train numbers was intended to make it easier for passengers to identify trains, as well as to update the numbering system for better organization. The decision to revert back to the old numbering system was made after feedback from passengers and stakeholders.

The railway is operating seven trains to facilitate the tourists. Additionally, the railway is running holiday special, special, and chartered trains to meet the demand of tourists. There is a waiting list of 38 for the Himalayan Queen, 21 for the Kalka-Shimla Special, 17 for the Kalka-Shimla Express, 25 for the Kalka-Shimla Express, 20 for the Shivalik Deluxe, 18 for the Kalka-Shimla Special, and 16 for the Kalka-Shimla Express. Four special trains will be run to cater to the demand of tourists. On Thursday, a chartered train with seven coaches arrived in Shimla, booked earlier.
