The network was quite extensive. It was mainly used for the Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant in Bhadravathi for transporting wood and iron ore from the Kemmannugundi area. It was a 2'0" Narrow gauge track. The Tarikere-Narasimharajapura section was completely abandoned after the Bhadravati reservoir was filled, (So was the Tadasa-Hebbe section). But patches of it continued to work for a long time afterwards. Even today, for quite some distance one can follow the route of the Bhadravathi-Tadasa section while going along SH65.
