IR WDM2 17350 GHE 2DJ 261105Ludhiana (LDH) WDM2 17350 of Indian Railways pulls into Ghevra with a very full 2DJ, the 07:30 Jind Junction - Delhi Junction Passenger. Interestingly the train was formed of vacuum brake stock and the only non-air brake BG train I've ever travelled on in India - nowadays everything (MG excepted) is air brake. Saturday 26th November 2005. Transferred to Sahkurbasti and restricted to shunting duties only in 2009, the early 1970s built loco was condemned as 'overaged' in August 2012.Dan Crossclick here

IR WDM2 17350 solebar kids 2DJ 261105View from the cab of Indian Railways WDM2 17350 as it works 2DJ, the 07:30 Jind Junction - Delhi Junction Passenger. No chance of getting in the train (with our rucksacks too) so we hopped on the solebar like these kids, until the loco pilot and his assistant insisted we join them up front. What a way to go to school!Dan Cross click hereNovember 26, 2005

Each weekday morning there was a 95% steam-hauled, “rush hour” of commuter and long-distance trains, on both gauges, with a large number of movements to be seen in just a few hours. Add to this the use of the railway tracks as footpaths by the local...
