The affected trains include 22503 Kanniyakumari – Dibrugarh Vivek Express, 22502 New Tinsukia – SMVT Bengaluru via Perambur, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, 18189 Tatanagar – Ernakulam Express, 22605 Purulia – Tirunelveli Superfast Express, and 22603 Kharagpur – Villupuram Superfast Express.

The affected trains include 22639/22640 Alleppey - Chennai Central, 12625/12626 Thiruvananthapuram Central - New Delhi Super Fast Express, 22503/22504 Kanyakumari - Dibrugarh Express, 22969/22970 Ernakulam - Patna Junction, 22677/22678 Kochuveli - Yeshwantpur Express, and 22643-22644 Ernakulam - Patna Express. The railway claims that this diversion would save time, as the journey between Podanur and Irugur takes 10-15 minutes via the Irugur-Podanur route, compared to 40-45 minutes through Coimbatore Junction. However, the RAAC, the Coimbatore Railway Struggle Committee, and the TPDK are strongly against this move and plan to fight it.
