◾Originally ◾Introduced introduced in 1984 as 217/218 Howrah-Sainthia Mayurakshi Fast Express Passenger, by ran Shri with A Electric traction between Howrah and Andal, thereafter diesel loco was given (later started to run till Rampurhat)

*During that time UP train departed Howrah at 16:25 & arrived Barddhaman at 17:47,ran via-Dankuni with NO STOPS between Howrah and Barddhaman
*While DN train departed Barddhaman at 09:28 & arrived Howrah at 11:35,ran via-Bandel with NO STOPS between Barddhaman and Howrah (to avoid overtake by Bombay Mail via-Gaya in Chord line)
Later commercial stop at Bandel was given
*During 2000-04,up train departed Howrah at 16:50 & ran via-Dankuni
*It had few general coaches, some Reserved Chair Cars,AC Chair Car and even a Non-AC First Class
*During 2011-12,had Pataka Tea advertisement over all coaches
