Its because of 12081 kannur-trivandrum jan shatabdi exp. After complaints from railway passengers about water availability in jan shatabdi(12082), it is instructed that train water tank should be filled completely filled before departure. It takes average of 25-30 minutes to fill water in all coaches.
If 12081 train arrives before 14:05, jan shatabdi(12082) will depart at 12081 arrival time + 30 minutes. and 12624 at 14:30 or 12082 arrival time+ 40 minutes( whichever comes later).
If 12081 train arrives after 14:05, 12624 will leave at 14:30hrs but will be detained at kochuveli/chirayinkil/murukkumpuzha/kadakkavoor/varkkala...

This can't be the reason. Still the train reached PGT on time or max 5 to 10min. But if you check MAS, it is late my more than 30min, and few occasion even 1hr during may 2nd week..
Da the reason actually is jan Shatabdi is now being preference over Mail. So Mail will get overtaken at Karunagapalli.
JS departure time is now delayed due to late incoming of the train.
The water filling takes only 5 mins as they wont completely fill the tank as it being a short distance train

during those time(post date). TVC-MAS mail was reaching MAS more than 30 minute late.. So JS is not the reason. Bcoz noticed that late started aftr salem...
