Does any railway jn have rescue loco ??......Which remains idle for many years??.......

In madurai after electrification,WAP 4 started ruling madras bound trains WDP 4 which hauled are given rest for vaigai exp and pandiyan exp........And in madurai there is a rescue loco WDP 4 when enquired to a loco pilot he said this loco will be idle and if any problem in midway towards chennai this will be used for hauling those trains ...This new technique is followed by madurai divison and he also said in upcoming days after the complete electrification of MS-CAPE Section ther will AC locos WAG 9,WAM 4 which will be acting as recue loco in madurai divison
Even rescued locos don't stay for years!! They are immediately sent to near by Sheds for Repairs!!
At some stations Locos are based due to Operational reasons which are idle and may be used as rescue locos in case of requirement, but even such locos run daily on mainline duties and are regular links of other trains. I will give you an actual example-

The loco which comes in to NZB with Pandarpur-Nizamabad(Arr about 23:00) Passenger stays at NZB in the night and another loco takes the rake to depart NZB as NZB-PUNE Passenger. The loco which is stabled in NZB for the night departs with the next night...
