The Divisional Railway Manager, Mysore Division, Rajkumar Lal hinted that high-speed trains may not be economically viable in the country, though the Indian Railways was pressing ahead with the project. At an interaction with members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) held here on Friday Mr. Lal said, “if you ask me, a speed of 100 kmph to 120 kmph — which is the speed of Rajdhani Express — was sufficient at this juncture. But trains with a speed in excess of 300 kmph was not only unviable but also unsuitable.”
