In the recent meetings with MP's from Kerala the railway minister Sadananda Gowda has said that the Palakkad-Pollachi broad gaugeline would be completed by March 2015 (within the next 7 months).
Lets hope that the timeline is met which would enable some good movement by passenger and express trains.

great news. But the signal works are pending in plni-poy. First finish this and start train
work has started at PGTN side for gauge conversion. Last time when i went home, some overbridge were closed, for widening the space req for bg tracks..
I guess, before next budget work will be over.

A new PGT-MS train via POY, PNI, TPJ can be started. Could be named as Mallampuzha Exp. This will satisfy long pending demand of an exclusive PGT-MS train besides connecting POY, UDT to their capital and can connect PGT with South Chennai (IT corridor)
Let first they restore the route and bring the old PGT-RMM overnight and day trains back. Then will go for newer trains...
