Considering this train having halt at Trichy fort as well as the BHEL station of Tiruchi (Tiruverumbur), this train can halt at TP, and use the freight bye-pass line to Tiruverumbur instead of going and reversing at TPJ which can save about 20 minutes of its travel time at least

TP is in Thillai Nagar area and near old town whereas TPJ is in cantonment area around which has a lot of new colonies have come up. Even the main bu stand is at TPJ.
Yes- but the main town bus stand seems to be the chatram bus stand near the Fort- Major town services from junction bound to places like Srirangam too empty at chatram bus stand and go for a long halt which ideally means changing 2 buses is faster for long distances in Town- only mofussil bus stand is located close to TPJ
