Electric Loco has a survival life span ranging from 25-30 years, but if these are over hauled at exact time, life span is expected to increase depending on the parts available too.
During the POH n AOH, the loco goes under complete check up n audit n then its released out in the world.
That's why u can see its written, "FIT FOR COACHING" with gears changed.

Ramm...is it possible that the productive life of a loco might come down from 25-30 years to under twenty if the overhauling is not done as suggested or if the loco is pushed way beyond it's capacity even with proper,timely overhauling??? That's two scenarios i would like you to throw some light on.

Life span of a Loco is not based/related to their Overhauling ....If a Particular loco fails due to overhauling ..... Same type of treatment is given....Every Loco have a Fixed life span of Working . And yes Inner strength is more Important for a Loco ..... Let the Outer Body be in any Condition :)
