nambi83 362 blog postsIf possible till villupuram-chengalpattu doubling work finishes this train should be made as regular as it covers Tambaram , chengalpattu, melamaruvathur connectivity to Bengaluru. Once villupuram chengalpattu doubling completes it should divert via arrakonam - chengalpattu. There is a huge demand for a train to Bengaluru from Tambaram, Chengalpattu Melmaruvathur Passengers.

oops, you are right. Made a mistake in that, but still a considerable chunk of revenues comes from sleepr, Second sitting and AC classes. tickest of UR are subsidised by increasing rates on freight, not sure how they turn profitable, unless JS are crammed to an inhuman capacity by passengers
only one time investment in JS trains no need of TTE no need of coach attendant in entire journey
they are minor costs compared to the cost of electricity/diesel used while hauling the train.With the per passenger earning less than 20 Paise per Km, i am not sure the traction costs are overcome+no TTE means risk of ticketless traveling.
But i guess having a long, 24 coacher jan sadharan might cover it all. in that case you would be correct about it being profitable.
