Out of 32 years period, 11-12 years are already over. So, compensation reduces proportionately. Also, 60% of whatever compensation paid comes back to Govt kitty (GoK and MoR).
I was looking for this agreement. Thanks However i cannot understand why SWR/MOR agreed for 32 years resulting in difficulty in operating passenger trains.In my view this agreement helps HMRDC more than SWR/MOR and railways is at the mercy of HMRDC which has equity from MRPL,NMPT etc.HMRDC is eager to run more freight trains to make more profit and show it as one of the profit making SPV under MOR.But as GOK has invested considerable amount in equity/cost of construction, it is common man of the Karnataka suffering for want of good connectivity between SBC and coastal districts of the state.
It is not the technical problem which prevents running of trains in this route. It is commercial interest. In KR, one is ready to pay extra for 40% extra distance calculated. For 183 Kms in HAS-MAJN stretch, this would be just Rs. 15 extra. That's all. So, public will not raise any objection if the fare gets increased by Rs. 15 per seat, since they are now paying more than Rs. 150 extra for sitting in a bus. Proposal should come from concerned and rlys should be pressurised to run trains.
This is HASSAN-MANGALORE RAILWAY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION is a special purpose vechicle formed jointly by MOR and Govt of Karnataka and it's undertakings including MRPL and NMPT. The MD is from railways and chairman is from Infrastrcture Dept Principal Secretary of the Govt of Karnataka.The company was formed for converting MG line to BG from Hassan to Mlore has a 32 years O&M agreement with railways
