Speed trial successful on Pollachi-Palakkad BG line.
• Trial began from Palakkad Town Station at 10.15 a.m. with an engine and a coach.They reached Pollachi Junction at 12.05 p.m. by travelling at an average speed of 40 km an hour.
• While the officials had earlier said that they would return from Pollachi to Palakkad at 80 km an hour, they did not go beyond 60 km an hour, and that took them about an hour and twenty minutes ij the return direction.

Total distance is 55 km covering 7 stations: Palakkad Town, Pudunagram, Vadakannikuparam,Kollengode,Muthalmada.Meenakshipuram,Anamalai Road & Pollachi Junction.
Officials from the Palakkad Division and construction wing of Southern Railways said that they would conduct more speed trials. They said that the track was ready for inspection by the Commissioner for Railway Safety. After his inspection, train services would resume on the Pollachi Town to Palakkad Town stretch.
