Its not that locos should serve their home zones only. No shed can restrict its locos like that. Best example is SWR. SWR does not have even a single electric loco shed. Trains of SWR use locos of SR and SCR. And CR trains also use KJM EMDs.
Kaziranga ke slot ke Har train ka loco Link ER se Jata hai. Like NFR Provides Loco Link for ER's Saraighat and Darjeeling Mail !!!
