I observed that alcos especially WDMx locos initially accelerate out of a station,then LPs apply the brakes and reduce the speed of the train a bit and then starts to accelerate again. Any technical reason behind this?

yes some alco's TM's buildup quick momentum,especially when MU'ed one can observe:)(and the way they chugg immediately <3<3)

Love the noises it makes when chugging! I got to ride in TPJ MV passenger with GOC alco. Wonderful it was. Yesterday I took ED 3D led Uzhavan. Both displayed awesome chugging.
