The Madras Park (MPK) railway station is one of the highly patronized railway station in Chennai Division. The ticket counters are situated in Platform #1 Beach side line. To goto Platform #2, passengers have to climb steep FOB which is in a dilapidated condition with edges of many steps broken.
People arriving at Chennai Central with huge baggage find it very difficult to climb. Hence many people risk their life by jumping into the track to cross the plafrorm.

platform #1 and a Way Down in Platform #2, it would be highly helpful.
I am wondering how come railways is neglecting such an important crossover.

Agreed with the point that it is tough, i used to face the same every time. But taking risk by jumping to track is never a solution.
Alternatively, you can move towards Chennai Beach side end of Chennai park station and cross the track. This is best alternative because, you are not jumping into the track and also, local trains will come and stop before that point. So there is zero chance of taking risk(only if you risk yourself crossing when train is about to start from park).

shortcut, you will have do little bit of walking. But effort will be less compared to climbing of stairs at the same time and also less risk to your life.
Lets hope they come with escalator soon.

I used to travel very frequently in Chennai Suburban trains in the past. FOB in MPK station is in worst condition from very long time. Many of steps are broken and iron casing used for sealing the steps protruding out which is resulting in injury.

Agreed that walking a bit up and crossing the track is alternate to FOB or jumping into the track. But, even that is not an ideal solution. The Park station in Chennai is never short of passengers and it is always chaotic. If many passengers start to do as an alternate to FOB, even that would cause safety issues. Already some people are doing this.
With Park station set to expand with the introduction of Metro, an escalator would be ideal.

Yes. Escalator is needed. Considering the amount of travellers, that too 90% of travellers will be with luggage, it needs escalator.
