Need for introduction of Variable time slots fare scheme :-
We have variable fare scheme in the period of discounts on base fares depending upon Peak period and Lean period.
There are certain inevitable day trains where becoz of the timing factor, in either direction up or down , occupancy level remains very poor and results in loss to the IR.

cut short this losses, the variable fare scheme based on time slots be introduced and to be begin with short distance super fast trains (Shatabdi / Jan Shatabdi type) in either up or down direction, where the occupancy factor plays its part. (eg. Bandra - Surat recently started Shatabdi type spl 0985 / 0986 / 0987 / 0988)
Hope to find some steps on this in the coming up budget.
