RAC is at times allotted for night travel too-the passengers are given seating accommodation in lower berth and person on the upper berth sleeps in his berth-have seen it in PNR predictions of RockFort, Malabar etc
then 3*2 can sit and 2 can sleep . .super ...

RAC very much exists for FC both during day travel as well as night travel.
Only the trains plying between Kalka-Shimla and vice versa do not have RAC as the FC Classes indicated there are nothing but an improved version of a sitting class.
