superfast111 453 blog postsWhy cant this train get electric loco's between Pune & Ahmedabad. The halts at both stations allow for the loco changing time. 635 kms is a big distance to cover under wires.

i guess its probably got to do with shortage of D-locos in Pune, but this is just a conjecture.
Nah. But maybe IR lost a few more locos than its WAP 7 last week (I believe).
Refer to this post by Yogesh Sir ( He is not on IRI anymore I guess). He was a local RF at Pune, familiar with all the operations at the station.

Apparently, due to severe congestion at Pune station, the authorities had said 'No' to loco changes for any trains at Pune other than a few trains which had already been running for a long time and under-going loco change at Pune for a long time ( Like DR-MS, Jayanti Janata, MAS-CSTM mail etc).
