Very recent media reported it to be 114 and it appears at be in concurrence with the fact that revenue generation in first 6 months of current financial yr is 10% short of target and flexifare etc schemes have started backfiring. So the OR shall be much higher than the targeted OR.
OR of 92% is budgeted figure, and actual performance is worse. Hence IR trying every possible means to increase revenue in order to ensure smooth payments for safe operation & maintenance of trains, salary,pension, other expenses.
Media reports should had talked about opr. Rat. Of Passenger segment. OR of both pass and freight segment is 90% if taken together.
(1) IR has lost many good opportunities of legitimately increasing revenue, some of which I had already touched upon is past blogs.
(2) Flexi/ Suvidha, back door fare increase may fetch some money, but has severely dented the credibility of IR.
(3) Today, govt want to play safe and does not want to take any risk after Bihar/ Delhi elections. Keeping in view crucial UP elections, it do not want to give any issue to the hyper active and ultra anti development opposition parties, who oppose any step taken by...
