All Kerala- Gujarat bound trains, some towards Rajasthan and Delhi- Mumbai services via Konkan route are going to be running under the electric traction from the originating railway station ie; Trivendrum, Nagercoil Junction or Tirunelveli Junction to Mangalore Junction railway station. The Ernakulam- Ajmer Marusagar Express will also run with electric locomotive from Ernakulam Junction to Mangalore Junction railway stations, Nagercoil- Gandhidham Express, Kochuveli (Trivendrum)- Bhavnagar Express, Kochuveli- Bikaner Express, Trivendrum- Veraval Express, Kochuveli (Trivendrum)- Porbandar Weekly Express and all Delhi bound trains via Konkan ie; Mangala Express, Kerala Sampark Kranti will be put on electric traction from Trivendrum- Ernakulam to Mangalore Junction railway stations. The Mangalore- Kerala trains and Mangalore- Madras Express, super fast services originating from Mangalore Central railway station will be running with end to end electric locomotives. Mangalore- Shornur track via Calicut has been upgraded to boost the speed of trains up to 100 kilometers per hour. The decision for the loco change of Rajdhani Express has not been taken yet since it has a dedicated diesel loco of WDP3A class from Trivendrum to Vadodra and to save more time between its running schedule the loco change for Rajdhani Express may not happen. Rest almost out on papers and in a span of 5-6 months the electric loco will be rolling out in the Mangalore area.
