The Railways administration has put the brakes on its endeavour to purchase high-speed rakes, which can run at speed of 130kmph, as trials done were unsatisfactory...
130kmph for Mumbai locals is a wasteful expenditure as this can seldom be achieved on mumbai suburban station where inter-station distance is from 1-2.5km only. Even long distance SF with LHB coaches are being operated at 110kmph, 130kmph for local trains is too futuristic.
However, after completion of CCG-VR six lines, there will be a dedicated suburban trains fast corridor. 130kmph trains can be introduced on the fast corridor, while the slower old rakes continue to serve the slow corridor.

these are all tall promises that we in Mumbai here before elections. Since there are BMC election planned in Mumbai very soon you'll keep hearing such stories but nothing conclusive happens, ever.
This 130 Kmph local thing is going since i started my Junior Colg; since then i graduated and have a job, but the situation here hasn't changed.
