Good Response for Maiden Run of Ernakulam-Rameswaram Special Fare Express
The newly operated special fare train between Ernakulam and Rameswaram has received an overwhelming response from passengers with an occupancy rate of 85%. Out of the 936 sleeper class tickets, a total of 776 tickets were booked, out of which 663 tickets were booked to Rameswaram alone and the remaining to Madurai and Palani.

has enabled the pilgrims from Kerala to reach all these places in Tamil Nadu by a single train. As a result, passengers and pilgrims have requested Southern Railways to run this train permanently between Ernakulam and Rameswaram on daily basis.
Eventhough the train has garnered a good patronage, people have requested to change the departure and arrival timings to 07:30 PM and 07:30 AM respectively as arriving at 04:00 AM at Rameswaram makes it difficult to find accomodation and to enjoy the beauty of magnificent Pamban bridge.
