Nashua NH USA 950 blog postsFINALLY, we have an all-AC train between Mumbai and Chennai with limited halts except that it goes via Vasai Road/Panvel. I am pretty sure Wadi is a technical halt. Still slower than the Chennai super by 15/45 mts. between Pune and Chennai. If this becomes popular, then I am wondering if it would be good to introduce a Humsafar between Mumbai and Chennai utilizing this slot.

U r nt d getting the point.. If doubling and other progress has been made.. What has been the effective change in the avg speed or travel time reduction or slack time reduction in trains running since ages... Take 12163 for an example.. Wht wonders have been done to this train.. Bail gaadi bana di hai.. Inspite of getting e loco from gtl (300kms ahead of renigunta where loco change used to happen), did the travel time reduce? Did mps increase, toh net faayda hua kya? Diesel bacha, shaayad😂
12163 speed up is not feasible as its CR train. It has RSA with other train which leaves at 23:00 at MS, so SR will not allow it before time. In Return, already reaching Dadar at 6am.
Actually all the trains on CSTM-MAS sector have huge slack enroute, still they dont speed them up. Once I had seen CSTM-MAS exp arriving SUR late by 3hrs, still it reached MAS before time. Most of the trains arrive RU before time regularly, but they dont change their TT.
I used 12163 just as an example bt all the trains like madras mail cstm chennai express TT haven't upgraded since doubling and electrification..
