Interestingly, even Mumbai Bhusaval train can be made to undergo a reversal with this arrangement. If a train comes from Mumbai, it can come out of Manmad station from East side, go to Ankai, reverse, reenter Manmad from West side and continue it travel to Bhusawal. In this attempt, the direction reverses.
Thanks for the explanation. The special loop configuration at MMR is also depicted in the Living Atlas, as seen in the attached pic. The Living Atlas is based on train routes as per satellite imagery - it can be seen that the two routes approaching from the south have the option to take either arc of the loop.
I said similar kind of stuff in the post .
Of course,went unnoticed.
The over lapping can be seen in Living Atlas but not in Google maps or Wikimapia.
I didnt travel in this train and hence the authenticity is questioned.

Interestingly, Manmad Kachiguda Exp can opt to leave Manmad station from any side that the Station Master desires to. And still the next station can be Ankai in any case.
Another interesting fact is Daund to Aurangabad trains (like Pune - Nanded exp) need not even Manmad. They can reverse from Ankai itself, and save around 30 kms of train travel. If a connector line is built between the 2 lines, the reversal can also be avoided, and travel time can reduce by net 1 hour. And by building a similar connector line at Daund, the travel time from Pune to Aurangabad will be just 5.5 hrs, which is the same as taken by many buses.
