Sir I agree bullet train is good but for IR long distance HSR at 200km/h is better. Then normal trains will become safer.
In the 1850s, the British companies initially wanted to use standard gauge for Railways in India, but the Viceroy at the time wanted 6ft broad gauge. So an Indian Engineer suggested 5ft 6in 1676 mm gauge. Had the British built Standard Gauge lines in India, they would have been in danger (monsoons). Had the British used 6ft gauge then too expensive. So Indian Broad Gauge is the best for India.

HSR
*Important Note-HSR is NOT metro.
HSR is costly and should be interoperable with current IR network. IR is building DFC. So soon lines will be decongested. So higher speeds can be achieved with track upgrades. But Dedicated HSR will be successful if it runs on Broad Gauge, shunting yards can be shared. And shipping will be easier, look at how ICF transports Kolkata Metro trainset, through IR network because Kolkata Metro is broad gauge.
Look at Russia running HSR trains on their existing track (they use 1520mm gauge)..
