Here are seven rail routes in India that have double-decker trains:
1. Ahmedabad-Mumbai: The first superfast AC double-decker train ran between Ahmedabad Junction and Mumbai Central in September 2012. The train generally takes 7 hours to complete 493 kilometres between the two cities.
2. Howrah-Dhanbad: The first ever double-decker train was flagged off from Howrah to Dhanbad. The service started on October 1 in 2011. With the launch of this train, India became the third country after USA and England to operate double-decker trains. It covers 259 kilometres in around 5 hours.

3. Chennai-Bangalore: The train comprises of 12 coaches. Apart from two engine coaches, the train has 10 double-decker chair cars. The train takes around 6 hours to cover a distance of 358 kilometres.
4. Delhi-Jaipur: The second shortest and most frequently used double-decker train runs between Delhi and Jaipur. The service was inaugurated on August 17, 2012. The train runs 303 kilometres within 4 hours 30 minutes.
5. Flying Ranee: One of the oldest trains in India, the Flying Ranee was introduced by the British in 1906 as a weekend special between Mumbai and Surat. Termed the Queen of the West Coast, the train runs for about 4 hours 30 minutess. The double-decker coaches were included recently. The train still runs with single deck coaches, sometimes.
6. Kacheguda-Tirupati: In order to tackle the surge of pilgrims to Tirupati, the Indian Railways last year introduced a double-decker train between Kacheguda in Hyderabad and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. The train runs for 636 kilometre within 11 hours 30 minutes.
7. Guntur-Kacheguda: Telengana's second double-decker train, the Guntur-Kacheguda Express was introduced on May 13, last year. The train originates from Guntur and is scheduled to run for 287 kilometres within 5 hours 10 minutes.
The Delhi-Jaipur double-decker seems to be the fastest train among them according to covering distance in least time.
