done in the previous night or can follow the same 2-3-4 hours structure. Ex: For Coromandel ex:MAS, I have seen charting done at 23:00 hours in the night and also at 04:00 hours in the morning. For Yeshvantpur Duronto ex: HWH, I have seen charting done the previous night at 21:00 hours and also on its day of departure at 09:00 hours in the morning. Now, the above mostly applies for the originating station or stations forming a single cluster. Ex: HWH & HWH/KGP, BCT & BCT/BVI and so on!!
For intermediate stations it simply depends on whether it sees its own charting or not. For ex: Dibrugarh-Yeshvantpur Express, if we consider that VSKP does not sees its own charting, but rather it shares quota with HWH and HWH being the more important station sees its charting, thus the charting time for VSKP would depend on the charting timings of HWH. In normal circumstances charting for VSKP should get prepared sometime around 12 in the morning. However due to the quota sharing, charting for VSKP would be prepared the previous night around 21:00/22:00 hours along with the charts for HWH. This is why you would find a new rule popping up in IRCTC which says that, "For tickets confirmed through originating station and/or charting of remote station" cannot be cancelled". Another wing of this rule is that, let us say that HWH-VSKP/BZA has the same quota to that of VSKP-BZA and/or is a constituent of GN/PQ. Both HWH and VSKP sees seperate charting Let us say a waitlisted passenger of HWH-VSKP gets confirmed. Now if any passenger is holding a WL'ed ticket for the remaining leg of the journey, i.e. VSKP-BZA would get confirmed even though charting for VSKP has not yet happened and the coach and berth no. would be allocated then and there. Here, even though the chart is not prepared, you would not be allowed to cancel the ticket. For tickets getting confirmed through Outstation Quota, the list is send to the nearest remote station which sees charting and is usually done the night previous to the day of the departure. List of the defence people eligible to avail DF is also send to the nearest charting station. Waitlisted DP's are merged and confirmed through HO. The process of allocation of HO can take place the previous night (For morning trains) and/or 2-3-4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train (Before Charting). No manual corrections is allowed therein, once the names and other details has been fed in the system.
