INDIAN RAILWAYS TO STOP INTRODUCING MAIL/SF AS NEW TRAINS?
These days, there seems to be a trend that IR prefers to introduce only humsafars/ac exp as new trains, and there seems to be very few new trains introduced as express/sf trains. So does this mean IR will stop introducing conventional express trains altogether? I decided to do some fact checking analysis:
-I looked for new introduced trains between 1/10/2017 to today (24/3/2018) using IRI trains list. I compared no. of mail/exp/sf trains introduced vs. no. of 'luxury' trains. My definitions of luxury train...

In that case IR has introduced more luxury trains than new ones, which means there is clear trend, but it needs to be seen if this is sustainable for IR, coz majority of pass. earnings still comes from non-ac if I'm not wrong
Earnings come from 3A class only. All other classes are not earning any revenue for IR.
Non AC class is loss making....
Even if sleeper is 130-150% full it just covers the operating cost
3AC gives profit even if just 80% full
Dynamic 3AC is profitable even on 60% patronage

nobody understands what exactly IR is upto
their business plan is helping drive many people away from railways owing to low speeds and high costs
once UDAN scheme becomes operational and many airports in tier-2 and tier-3 cities start operating the monoply that IR had in those areas will be gone, and along with that will be the high paying passengers.
they won't, atleast...

IR should start good mail/Exp & SF trains also where as these Premium trains will be costly to travel for Middle class & poor ppl often. Their should be proper balance too between both of the services as rail services can be used by all poor ppl with afforadble costs..
