KK's timeline is as follows:
1) Flagged off by the then Railway Minister Kamalapati Tripathi from Bangalore station on January 13th, 1977 ( TN was introduced first in 1976 and following it's success, AP in 1976 and later KK in 1977 were introduced).
2) From October 1st, 1982 Karnataka and Kerala expresses were split into separate services. Kerala continued using it's old number (125/126) while Karnataka got a new number (127/128). Also, both trains were made bi-weekly at this time, running via RU/GDR/BZA.
3)

From February 21st,1984, 905/906 SBC-NZM weekly express was introduced via GTL,WADI,DD (present day KK route).
4) Till November 1988, the operations were as follows-
127/128 Karnataka express (via GTL,WADI,SC,KZJ) - bi-weekly
927/928 Bangalore-New Delhi Express (via RU,BZA) - 4 days a week
905/906 Bangalore Nizamuddin express (via GTL,DD,MMR) - weekly
5) From November 1st, 1988, some changes were made in this
127/128 via SC was cancelled
927/928 via RU/BZA continued running 4 days a week (Had slip coaches to VSKP, though I do not remember correctly if it was this train).
905/906 via GTL,DD,MMR was made tri-weekly.
6) From May 1st, 1989, 927/928 via BZA was cancelled. 905/906 was renumbered to 127/128 and made daily. Thus the present day KK commenced running daily via GTL,DD,MMR route from May 1st, 1989.
