In my last train trip I learnt an important thing-if our train is stopped it means running our one train on time might mean late running for many other trains
Incident 1: Madurai junction 7:20PM on 20th april
A Twin WDM hauled Goods was put on platform 1-it was stopped there from 7:20PM-Pandiyan express scheduled to occupy the platform was in yard-After TEN-JAT link, SCT-MDU followed behind the heels of which was 16731 Mysore Express after which only the freight could move and Pandiyan could enter almost at 8PM only

Ya this analysis is one of my fav jobs....i keep on doing this kind of analysis on Single Line Section considering freights also.Currently also I'm trying to do research that why 15934 ASR DBRT Exp took almost 3 Hrs 18 mts from NJP to NCB.Though proper data is not available apart from regular trains. You can visit the Zonal Controller Office adjacent to any DRM Office of any Railways. You can see that the Chief Controller is always working on giant Computer Screens on how to manage the Traffic.I was lucky to visit APDJ Control Ofiice once, where they control entire Rail Traffic from RQJ-DTX/SGUJ-SMTA...Very exciting experience it was.
Oh ok!! Next time onwards any delays need to do more analysis!! huge network with lots of planning!
