I have observed that BCT-NDL Duronto take only 17.40 hrs to cover the distance of 1339 km. whereas LTT-ALD Duronto take 19.40 hrs to cover the distance of 1384 km.

But I think Itarsi_Allahabad is fastest route on a dieselized section according to my experience ET-JBP can be covered only in 3 hours. At one instance 12361 covered JBP-ET section in only 3 hours.

The fastest ET-JBP time I have seen is 2 hr. 54 mts. by the Ganga Kaveri Exp. back in the late 70s and early 80s.

To all of you..
fact1:mumbai(cst)-bhusaval-bhopal-new delhi is A grade track..so till itarsi..its run is with electric locomotive..and is pretty fast
fact2:only some part(say 20-30 kms) is single line between itarsi and jabalpur
fact3:after jabalpur till allahabad..all trains get slowed down due to traffic
fact3:train
...
is hauled by diesel from itarsi to allahabd...
now before comparisions..
fact1:mumbai new delhi is an a-grade track..fully electrified section...trains maintain momentum for hours..due to which all superfast trains manage to keep their average speed above 67-68 kmph..
fact2:many sections in between vadodara are feasible for 130-140 kmph run...due to which rajdhanis/durontos/garibrath manage 100kmph average speed between vadodara and new delhi..
so present mumbai-new delhi duronto is wayy too slower than other trains(mumbai raj/akraj/garibrath/tvc raj/pune nzm duronto)...
hope this helps
