Even though 'No Tips Please' this message is clearly stiched on the uniforms of the catering staff they will still collect the tip at the end of the journey.

i said thank you to you for this remark. the reason i did not say thanks on the main posting is that requesting for a tip is very very common in many many trains. maybe it is so, because i have traveled in rajdhani or shatbdi since 1980s. so in a way, it is nothing new for me. secondly, i just ignore when catering staff ask for tip. I sometimes feel bad for the condition of the staff especially if they work for contractors. On long distance trains the situation is bad. They have to live in a train for 5-7 days. Anyway, I have said 'useful I agree' now. thanks

they are pretty non intrusive about it though.
