I plan to book one of the above class (Blr to Delhi but boarding at Pune. Is it doable? Any suggestions which one I should book with a higher chance of clearance?

It seems this trick aint gonna work. When I selected Blr-Delhi destination and boarding Bangalore I get Bangalore waiting list (1A: WL2). However, if I try to put Pune as the boarding point it gives me Pune waitinglist (1A:WL7). So it is as good as booking Pune-Delhi.
I was hoping to get Bangalore WL, but boarding at Pune, which is surprising because you pay more.

you have been mistaken. you have changed boarding to pune while booking made the CRIS to allot you WL for pune-delhi quota. and WL7 has rarest of chance of confirmation in 1AC. You could have booked from SBC-NDLS and later changed the boarding to PUNE at PRS. that would have helped you.
First book at PRS from SBC you will get WL 2.....Then get the BP changed to Pune the status and quota will not change..
