At present IR is performing Push-Pull operations/trials with WAP7. Do you think WAP5 is a better candidate than WAP7 for Push-Pull since it has very close power rating, but is much lighter and has better top/operating speed?

No. It can't haul 24 coaches at 160kmph. It too has lesser performance than the WAP5H beyond 60kmph. But it's starting TE is between the WAP5 and the WAP7, so it can perform better at lower speeds than a WAP5.
It is like a trade-off between the P5 and P7. Not as good as the P7 at low speeds and not as good as the P5 at high speeds.
