CCM(Refund)/Northern Railway, Delhi
50% refund has been made to me by Northern railway, Delhi against e-ticket TDR ref. No: ekt200911800824113 after sleeping on refund file for 6 months. The Rajdhani train 2431 was running 11hrs. late. and so we had to cancell journey from Kota To NZM on 7th Dec'09. PNR Ref. No 4524166396.
For balance 50% refund IRCTC have sent letter to NR Railway on 14-May-2010 stating that 'Train Late More Than Three Hours.', so please reopen the case and grant the refund as per rule.

am interested to know as to where I myself or IRCTC has gone wrong in filing the TDR. Instead of finding minor mistakes and delays in filing TDR refund by me or IRCTC, they must return the full fare.
It appears that railways do not have any concern to the miseries and mental agony faced by passengers because of cancellation or late running of trains. I had to send my daughter to Delhi by car to catch her flight to USA on 7th Nov, 09 incurring heavy expenses and loss of time.

The date of journey appears to be on 7.11.2009 and not on 7.12.2009 as posted in # 46594 the original post (first para).
@ The refund ought to be full based on the info you posted.
However plz post the reason Rlys gave for 50% refund only.
@ Have you mentioned in your TDR mail to IRCTC, the reason

for cancelling the tickets since train announced to have been running late by more than 3 hrs.
@ As appearing, online TDR info was sent to iRCTC by e-mail @ 6.15 am ...before the scheduled arrival time of train at Kota @ 7.00 am. The System in all likelyhood might have considered it as normal cancellation request /TDR and hence regular refund rules might have been applied i.e. 50% refund.
@ Jiteshji,
Can you elaborate on the provision ... more than 3 hrs... delay...
The provision goes this way....
"..........If the train is delayed by more than 3 hrs at the journey orginiating point of the passenger ... " .....does that mean cancellation requests/TDR to become eligilble have to be after 3 hrs from the scheduled departure time ? The online system updating may play a trouble spot for e-ticekts.
@ However, while filing TDR on such delay reasons, one has to be careful in filing TDR after the scheduled departure time and with a specific mention that the train is running late by more than 3 hrs as announced by the Station Manager / or on IR website and consequently such TDR has been made for cancellation and for full refund claim.
