When train services are gradually being resumed, why are they being designated as Festival/Puja specials, COVID specials etc. with numbers beginning with 0. Is this a ploy to abolish CONCESSIONS through the backdoor ? Would like to elicit member's opinion on this .
I believe they're trying to cover their losses through this "backdoor". Railways were already in huge loss, and this lockdown period probably broke their back. So somehow they are managing to cover up their losses by cutting corners on bedrolls & food, and consequently inflating the fares by running these trains as specials.
So the funny part is even railway employees are not getting concessions in these specials.
So my opinion is to have a hiked fares through non concessions and also it will be easy for Railways to cancel trains in case of non occupancy or any other adverse situations.

Its kind of thing now pull up extra fare from running trains & then once regular trains open fare increase is certainly on the cards...We may get official announcement in budget.
