I took sleeper ticket from NGP to R and boarded 3rd AC with TTE permission and berth no 50 was allotted but he never turned up till raipur.He appeared suddenly with a small hand book to write a receipt, but others who joined with me at NGP are simply giving Rs 100 and got down.So i too followed.
TTE has amassed nearly 2000 in front of my eyes.

This is in view of insufficient vigilance squads and also poor frequency of vigilance team's positioning. In addition, IR is a huge network carrying every day... crores of passegners.
@ Lakhs of rupees by way of fines are collected by Rlys from ticketless travelllers, improper ticket travellers etc. as reported from time to time in various newspapers and also the news on Rly websites.
@ TTE's too are often found and booked for having adopting such meance as you mentioned in your post. However, the total abolition is a misnomer...

Atleast a min vigilance check would have been kept for AC coaches during summer time to protect railways revenue
