Located about 25 kms from Yalvigi towards Gadag is Magadikere lake, where every winter between November and February 1000s of migratory Bar headed geese make this place their home. They settle.in this lake during the winter, and having their fill in the nearby fields of groundnut , corns and maize. Apart from these birds, various other local migrants also make this lake their home, like painted storms, cormorants, swallows, swifts and occasional cranes and shelduck.
