Indian Railways passenger traffic is less than 50% today than 2010.

There is one more parameter posted in blog post 2. The number of travellers from April 2023 -July 2023 on avg is 550 millions-600 millions which translates to 7.2 billions in FY 24 which is 15% less then 8.44 billions travellers in FY19 precovid. The traveller numbers are same from past year from July 22 to July 23 post covid year and all services are running and economy has no break after April 22. Inspite the number travellers have decreased, trains are not punctual, overcrowding of trains in normal seasons leaving aside festive seasons.
FY 2022 is not today. Did you forgot that those were covid years ?

There is a change in behavior and travel patterns post covid due to various reasons be it people preferring living and working near there hometowns , WFHs or Relocation with families.. preference to private mode or some choosing not traveling at all . Even the airline traffic has not reached the pre pandemic levels during the comparison period.
It will be back to normal and surpass 2018 figures in the current FY....
