(1) A few days ago, one of my fam members took this train to MAQ. They said that 95% of the train is empty at MAQ. From MAQ to Kannur, it's almost empty. Don't know why they are wasting resources by extending it further. I've also seen this train in Kannur. Very few people on their way to MAQ. People prefer 16528 or buses. (2) From what I've heard, none of the local passenger groups in CLT asked for this extension. On the contrary, there were recent reports that people want an additional train via Salem instead. The only person who was always pushing for this extension is the MP from Kozhikode. He wanted a daytime intercity from CLT to SBC and extension of this train. (3) There are reports that the passenger groups in Coastal Karnataka think that the general compartments will be full from CLT when the train gets extended, which I don't think will happen much. People would rather leave at 7:30pm from CLT instead of 3:30pm in the afternoon. So it won't be a problem for MAQ passengers.
