because of Remote location (RL) quota, my ticket is wait-listed from my preferred Source station.
But in the same train , I find that there is availability of tickets from many other locations(before my home location) to the same destination station.
Why does this happen?
In such a case can I book a ticket from some station before my source station by paying...

This is because of different quotas exist for different stations
Yes, you can book from your previous stations and change your Boarding Point by personally going to your nearest PRS Counter, and submit a request to CRS with your Original ID proof

Theoretically it can be done if you dont care about paying the extra fee..
Procedure is get the ticket and later after some days but before 24 hrs prior to the journey go to the PRS counter and change the ticket..
