I'm going to Mumbai with my family (total 6 PAX). The on-line booking agent says that seat # will not be known (this is known at train stations only). As I'm travelling with kids, how can I be assured that I'm at the same compartment with family. Is there any way out that I know my seat nos. in advance?! I'm planning to travel by AC 2 tier.

Thanks. Which means even if I make tickets for 7th October now, I would not be knowing seat numbers until it is stuck outside the compartment 2 hrs before leaving? I'm not frequent traveller and last time when I was travelling by Rajdhani I had my tickets with seat number printed on it. If seat numbers are not revealed in advance it will be difficult for me to travel with small kids.
If its WL (Waiting) Ticket or 1 AC Ticket (WL or Confirm), then only u will not be aware of seat no.
For Confirm 2A/3A/SL/2S/CC/1ACC Ticket, Berth/Coach No. will be printed on Ticket!!

Even in online ticket, if; it is a confirmed ticket, then the numbers will be printed inthe ticket. If; it is a RAC or wait listed ticket, then there will not be any number.
