Given the quality and intentions of some blogs(not all blogs), I find it difficult to support this decision.
To be fair, only 2-3 of every 10 new blogs catches my attention. The rest, as I said could be unrelated or time pass kongratulations msges etc.

okay. i ll make an exception to you. generally we have questions/suggestions and then views for/against it, but let this blog be unique with reply followed by the question/suggestion. here goes the suggestion-
we all adore our blog forum. many a times, we have nothing to blog but simply love to go through blogs posted by other members, and reply in case we have something to contribute. can we have an auto scrolling page where we can place the blog forum in automatic mode and the new blogs automatically comes up...

well what you say is correct, but then that exists in the current format as well. you are always at liberty to deselect the categories or hide the blogs that do not interest you and they will not be displayed in the automatic mode. many a times i stay online for hours without posting a single blog, just going through the proceedings. now if you consider my #sitesuggestion, it will help all including #moderator to watch the entire proceedings of all forums without coming on stage silently without having to click every time on the notification of "71 adfmin posts", "2blog posts" etc :P ;)
