50 kms in 2.5 hrs-Well immediate reaction will be bad section controllers, heavy crossings, etc- Well no- Its a track where in these 50 kms the descent is 700 mtrs- oh Toy train?? Well again no- its a complete broad gauge 18 coacher train running
Well this experience is something to be enjoyed- 57 tunnels and numerous bridges it is a difficult terrain to cross- but its enjoyable to cross- A definite treat for anyone who has starved in the polluted cities- a ride to remember

This is because...........
This route's primary importance is for GOODS movement to New Mangalore port. There are certain restrictions still prevailing in this route for passenger train movement laid by The Commissioner for Railway Safety. Among them are the track conformed to the safety standards laid down by the Indian Railway Act and was fit for movement of passenger trains. However, had imposed certain riders: that the speed of the passenger train should be limited to 30 kmph in the section with a further limit of 15 kmph on the stretch between Shiribagilu and Subramanya Road and that no passenger train should be on the track when a goods train was moving on the route.
