Is railway reservation counter ticket xerox copy (or fax copy )is acceptable for journey?

railway issues tickets from PRS counters that are to be carried with you on board. IF you wish to keep it safe and in 'sound' condition so that it is not spoiled , you can xerox it and show to TTE, as primary check. But you have to carry it with you, in case TTE does not accept xerox copy, you can produce the original one.
