Aren't DURONTO trains supposed to be faster or are supposed to run on par with Rajdhanis and shatabdis..... Then how is it that this DURONTO takes about 6 hours more time than the TVC Rajdhanis??? Can't both trains run on the same time slot???

Even I feel so it should be faster than current TT. The problem is slot. The high speed slot is vacant only on Wednesday & rest days,it is occupied by TVC & MAO Rajdhani. MPS don`t have significant difference on running on train. The proof is MAS-NZM Duronto. Even in HLHB, it ran along with MAS/BSP Rajdhani trailing them along the way.

Yes but for trains with electric loco. The diesel haulage will come out to be cheaper than this.

AFAIK, the EMD costs 11.5 crore & WAP-7 costs 16 crores. The cost of EMD is for the 2009 & WAP-7 is of 2013. Still if you consider inflation for 4 years, the EMD costs will again come to be low.

Still the total cost of operating diesel traction will come out to be far less than that with electric loco. Also the diesel loco is more flexible.
